Latex processing
Natural rubber latex, derived from the careful tapping of rubber trees, forms the foundation of many essential products. The field latex collected from these trees can be processed into either dry rubber or a liquefied form known as latex concentrate. Alfa Laval has been at the forefront of developing latex processing equipment, particularly in designing centrifuges that convert field latex into high-quality latex concentrate, meeting industry demands for efficiency and purity.
Alfa Laval’s advanced solutions for the latex processing industry deliver:
- High-quality latex concentration
- Global presence
- Process optimization
- Cost-effective maintenance
- Lifetime partnership
Alfa Laval’s tailored solutions ensure efficient latex concentration, maximizing yield and reducing waste, while proactive maintenance management minimizes downtime and significantly lowers operational costs, delivering substantial long-term savings.
Powering the global latex industry with advanced centrifuge technology
Field latex exudes from the Hevea brasiliensis tree, found originally in South America, now grown commercially in Asia and Africa. It is not economical to transport field latex around the world to different global markets, so it needs to be processed before being moved.
The centrifuge is the key component of this process and Alfa Laval’s decades of knowledge and expertise in developing the best centrifuges on the market mean it is a key player in the latex processing industry. A high-speed rotating bowl with conical discs breaks up the field latex and separates it into a concentrate with a rubber-rich content and a ‘skim’ with a low rubber content.
Alfa Laval’s centrifuges deliver the purest and most effective latex for use in a variety of products. These include rubber gloves, condoms and balloons as well as mattresses and furniture upholstery.
As well as providing cutting-edge equipment for optimizing latex processing, Alfa Laval also offers a unique advantage with its global presence in all major countries that produce latex concentrate. This extensive reach allows Alfa Laval to be more than just an equipment supplier, it is a long-term latex partner to customers, offering localized expertise and support throughout the entire lifecycle of the equipment.
